Howard Crosby Butler correspondence, 1917.

Consists of thirty-seven letters (1917) to Butler from several former students undergoing training in the U.S. armed forces during World War I. Many of the letters are written on Army and Navy Young Men's Christian Association stationery; one bears a Princeton Flying School letterhead and is accompanied by a Princeton Aviation Corps envelope.

Howard Crosby Butler was an archaeologist and professor of the history of architecture at Princeton University. In his early student days he played leading roles in the first productions of the newly founded Triangle Club and helped organize the college's third eating club, Tiger Inn, whose clubhouse he later designed.
